Roger McGough
Last year during "book week" Mrs Watson wanted a very special person to visit our school. She worked really hard writing letters and telephoning agents and eventually all her hard work paid off.
Roger McGough was coming to Holly Spring to read his latest poems. He had everyone enchanted... he even ate one of his poems right in front of us.
After his performance he stayed and talked to the children autographing the many books celebrating his work... he even told us about the time he spent being a "pop star"... remember the Scaffold and "Lily the Pink?"
and... just before he went home he found time to join the children in the school hall for the photograph below.
Now we are all wondering who Mrs Watson is going to "book up" for 2002!
