1 Sep 2007 - NEWSLETTER
Dear Parents,
A rather delayed welcome back from us all at Holly Spring Junior School and apologies that this newsletter is so late. We are having ongoing problems with the photocopier but this is now hopefully resolved.
NEW INTAKE
Our new children in year 3 are settling in well and enjoying the usual Holly Spring welcome. They are having joint playtimes with year 2 on the school field every Wednesday until half term to help ease them into life in the 'big' school.
We have also welcomed several new children into the rest of the school.
UNIFORM
The children are looking smart in their uniform and wear it with pride. Please help us to keep up the standards at Holly Spring. We are checking that the children are wearing appropriate school shoes around the school but there are still a few who arrive in trainers so please ensure that your child is wearing correct footwear when they leave home.
ROAD SAFETY
I am very concerned about the number of calls we are receiving from neighbours of the school and by what the staff and I have seen out on the roads recently. Some of our children are putting themselves in great danger by riding their bikes recklessly and crossing the road without paying attention to the traffic. When children are playing or walking together they do become more excitable and careless so please stress to them the dangers of not paying attention. None of us want one of our children to be a road accident statistic.
SCHOOL DINNERS
The price for school dinners will go up from Monday 17th September. The new price is £1.75.
Just a reminder those people entitled to free school meals need to fill out their forms and return them with evidence of Income Support. A letter has already gone out about this.
TABLE TOP SALE
Just a reminder that the Table Top Sale is taking place on Saturday, 15th September from 9am to 2pm. We hope to see you all there.
PARENT GOVERNOR ELECTIONS
Two of our Parent Governors are coming to the end of their term of office. Nomination forms will be distributed on Monday, 17th September 2007. Sarah Mortimer our current Chair of Governors has offered to stand again.
TERM DATES
Attached to the back of this newsletter are the term dates for 2007-2008. Please note that February half term is slightly later than usual and that Easter will be celebrated over a long weekend mid-term. Those parents that had already been given the term dates - please note a change of in-service day.
CLUBS
A list of the current clubs and times is attached for your information.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs T Donkin
