1 Oct 2007 - NEWSLETTER
Dear Parents,
Welcome to October's Newsletter. The format has changed because I am hoping that some of our talented children will take over the old style newsletter to make their own.
HOLLY SPRING ELECTION FEVER
We have had a very busy September as the children have elected various representatives to help run our school.
SCHOOL COUNCIL
The School Council elections were organised by Miss Littleford and ran like clockwork. The nominated children made impassioned speeches to their classes early in the morning. Each class went down into the hall where the secret ballot took place using real election ballot boxes from Bracknell Forest Borough Council. Our thanks go to Mr McGlashan who made this possible. The winners were announced in Assembly later in the day.
HOUSE CAPTAINS
As you know we have a House system at Holly Spring. The children from each house met together last week to listen to the speeches of potential House Captains and voted for the following
Red - Katherine, Charlie & Niamh
Yellow - Sian, Ryan & Bryn
Blue - Elizabeth, Jacob & Jack
Green - Gabrielle, Lewis & Matthew
PEER MEDIATORS AND PLAYGROUND BUDDIES
These will be chosen and in operation SOON.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE INVOLVED IN HOLLY SPRING JUNIOR SCHOOL?
We are looking for volunteers to help us with some exciting projects in school.
HEALTHY SCHOOLS AWARD
As parents and carers of your children your input is vital! We want healthy living and eating to be part of our school ethos - a way of life for our pupils. Can you spare a couple of hours a 1/2 term to be part of a taskforce to enable this to happen?
If so please drop us a line saying what times are good for you to meet up.
FUND RAISING COMMITTEE
We are trying to raise funds for our ICT. Do you have the expertise to help co-ordinate our efforts?
If you feel you can help please speak to one of our governors.
PARENT GOVERNORS
Congratulations to Mrs Sarah Mortimer who has been re-elected to the governing body and also as Chair. We are also pleased to welcome Mrs Nelhams who was newly elected and who will join us officially on 17th October.
A special thank you goes to Mrs Tara Gartland who is standing down after working so hard for the school as governor .
