1 Apr 2008 - NEWSLETTER

This has certainly been an eventful term.

We have had 2 amazing productions. The children at Holly Spring really do know how to rise to an occasion don’t they?

I’m sure that Harriet's fantastic ability to learn lines impressed those of you lucky enough to see the Y5 Victorian Extravaganza. I have fond memories too of Callum  and Celina’s version of “Daisy Daisy”.

Ryan and Chloe had the lead parts in the Y4 production of the Pied Piper of Hamelin and would not have been out of place on a West End stage.

All of the children though gave their all in what I have come to recognise as typical Holly Spring Style!

We have had some real success on the sports front too. Our football team finished 3rd in the league. They have worked so hard and trained regularly and become a formidable team.

Our Hockey team were runners up in the Hockey Festival after putting on a terrific performance. Mr Bailey was a very proud coach. Teamwork was again the key to their success. They were beaten only by the dreaded penalty shoot out. The team did not concede a goal until the semi-finals where they beat Uplands in extra time.  The final was hard fought and we were unlucky not to win.  Mr Bailey has said that it was the best school sporting performance in the last three years!

We have also attained NATIONAL HEALTHY SCHOOL STATUS this term. Our children really impressed the validators.  Well we all knew they would!  Miss Littleford guided us through the whole process successfully.

Of course Book Week was another huge success this year.

Next term begins with year group testing. As usual we ask only that you ensure the children get enough sleep so that they are rested and able to produce their best.

SATs Week is from 12th 16th May. At this time we make every effort  to giving year 6 as stress free an environment as possible.

Thanks to Miss Kircough’s imagination and organisational skills.

The authors were a particular hit with staff and children alike. They provided fantastic inspiration for writing. The Children’s comedian had us in hysterics and left us with some interesting reading material for our library.

Dressing up was a highlight for me. Thanks again to you all for the effort you went to in kitting the children out.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS

The summer term is going to prove busy with many after school clubs on offer.

They include:-

Rounders, Recorders/Music, Cheerleading, Athletics & Kwick-Cricket

Children will be asked to sign up for these after the Spring Break.

At this time we make every effort  to giving year 6 as stress free an environment as possible.
