Circus
Holly Spring Schools are pleased to announce the return of Happy’s Circus who will be again setting up on our school field on Friday, 13th June 2008. Some of the performers will be in the playground during the day talking to the children. The event will start at 5.30pm with the performance starting at 6.00pm. The show will finish at 8.00pm. Tickets cost £6.00 each and are strictly limited for health & safety reasons. The week before the show any remaining tickets will be released to the community so make sure you get your tickets early.
Parking
We are still getting reports of parents parking dangerously outside the school gates. Please remember you are putting children’s lives at risk. We are keeping in contact with the police over this serious issue.
Suntan Lotion
Children are allowed to bring Suntan Lotion to school when it is hot; however, they must look after it themselves. Please remind your children that they are only allowed to apply Suntan Lotion to themselves. Sun hats are recommended for the summer term. Children are encouraged to bring a water bottle to school which they will be able to re-fill during the day. Please ensure that everything your child brings into school is labelled with their name and class so they can be returned if lost. Thank you for your support with this.
Mr Bailey
After 3 successful years at Holly Spring Junior School Mr Bailey is moving onto pastures new at Meadowvale Primary School at the end of the summer term. He will be greatly missed by all, but we wish him well in his new position.
New Teaching Staff
We are pleased to announce that we have two new members of teaching staff starting with us in September 2008. Miss Sharp and Miss McAllister. We look forward to working with them in the new term.
Headlice
Have you had enough of getting your child clear of headlice only for them to pick them up again?
THIS IS A PLEA FROM A PARENT…
Holly Spring, as with a lot of schools, has a problem with headlice. It doesn’t have to be a problem – if we all work together we could eradicate it.
Available on the market is the “Nitty Gritty” nit comb and you can get one free.
You use it with any hair conditioner from home hence saving on costly chemical treatments and better still it’s available on prescription too. Just go to your doctor for a prescription and then to Lloyds Pharmacy who are the local suppliers.
The only investment that you need to make is to spend time checking your child’s hair and if you find that they have headlice – treat them. If everyone takes the time to do this we could save time in the future.
Thank you for reading this and if you have any other ideas on this subject please pass it on to the school and they will filter this to everyone via the newsletter.
SATs
Year 6’s national tests are upon us. All our children are well prepared and ready to do justice to themselves and their teachers. Please make sure that your child gets a good night’s sleep during the week and no additional pressure is put on them. Your child can only do his/her best and that is all we ask of them. Attendance is vital during the week as retakes are not possible. Punctuality is also crucial as tests will start on time and children will not be settled if they are rushed into the hall. Thank you for your support in this matter. Good luck everyone.

The Schools’ Association is running a Bingo Session on Friday, 16th May 2008 in the Infant hall. Tickets are on sale at the Infant School and cost £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for children. The evening will start at 6.30pm and finish at 8.00pm. Please bring your own drinks and snacks.
