Governors
The board of Governors acts like the board of directors of a company and oversees all that goes on in school. The Governors make policy decisions, appoint staff and set the budget for the school.
The Governing Body has delegated responsibility for the teaching and day to day running of the school to the Headteacher and his teaching staff; they receive professional advice from them. The Headteacher is directly responsible to the Governors for efficient management of the school.
The Governors are local people who have a genuine interest in the success of the school and its pupils. They serve for a period of four years. Four of the Governors are elected by the parents and are able to represent their views.
The Governors meet as a full body and as separate committees (Teaching & Learning and School Management & Finance) twice a term. Details of the Governors' activities appear in the minutes of Governors' Meetings and are available for inspection in the School Office.
The Governors send an Annual Report to all parents and invite them to attend an Annual Meeting each October.
All Governors are happy to speak to parents about matters of school policy.
Questions regarding individual children are, however, best brought to the direct attention of the class teacher or the Headteacher.
